The operation is part of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s on-going commitment to reduce deaths, injuries and property damage associated with traffic crashes related to impaired driving. The goal of the Wolf Pack is to educate people and create public awareness about the dangers of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and any chemical or controlled substances.
This DUI Wolf Pack operation is dedicated to Barb Aho. Mrs. Aho was a co-founder of Pinellas Remove Intoxicated Drivers (RID). RID has assisted with DUI Checkpoints and DUI Wolf Packs. RID would assist by providing food and drinks for the law enforcement officers participating in each event. Mrs. Aho’s son, Robert Aho, was killed by a drunk driver on March 22, 1987. Mrs. Aho was a longtime advocate for victim’s families affected by impaired driving fatalities before passing away April 26, 2019.
Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.), Chaplains Outreach Ministries and the Suncoast Safety Council will be supporting law enforcement during the operation.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting Wolf Packs continuously throughout the year.
