Sexual Predator & Offender Tracking
The Sexual Predator and Offender Tracking (SPOT) Unit was created in 2000 to address the growing number of sexual predators and sexual offenders in Pinellas County. The SPOT Unit handles this function countywide.
The mission of the SPOT Unit is to be proactive and aggressive in regards to monitoring, tracking, and enforcing Florida State Statutes that relate to registered sexual predators, sexual offenders, and career offenders.
The SPOT Unit is responsible for a variety of tasks including but not limited to:
- Initial registration
- Monthly, quarterly, or bi-annual re-registration based on an offender's status
- Maintaining registration paperwork
- Neighborhood notifications
- Address verifications
- Initiating criminal cases in reference to suspected registration violations
- Conducting surveillance operations
- Gathering and analyzing intelligence
- Community awareness

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) compiles and provides information about registered sexual predators and offenders in a variety of easily searchable formats. By visiting links below to various parts of the FDLE website, residents can search for registered individuals by address or map, and can even sign up to receive automatic email alerts when sexual predators or offenders move near their entered address. These functions are a quick and efficient way to stay apprised of registered sexual predators and offenders who may have moved near addresses you frequent such as your home, work, gym, or church.
