PINELLAS COUNTY – Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit are investigating the death of 64-year-old inmate David Egle.

Detectives say Egle was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on September 1, 2024, after being arrested by the Largo Police Department for Driving While License Suspended/Revoked and Violation of Probation.

According to detectives, on September 4, 2023, at approximately 8:50 a.m., Egle was found unresponsive in his cell. Deputies and medical staff performed life-saving measures on Egle until paramedics responded to assist. Egle was pronounced deceased at 8:59 a.m.

Throughout the course of the investigation, detectives found no evidence to believe Egle had been in any physical altercations or suffered any injuries while incarcerated.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will work to determine the cause and manner of death.

Egle’s next of kin has been notified.

The investigation continues.
