OLDSMAR – On Monday, March 11, 2024, at approximately 1:16 a.m., deputies responded to 1711 Azalea Court in Oldsmar for a report of a shooting.

When deputies arrived on scene, they learned a male, later identified as 20-year-old Kemani Wright, was firing a gun outside and inside the residence. Wright stole the homeowners 2004 Lexus and fled the scene prior to deputies arriving.

Throughout the investigation, detectives learned Wright texted the homeowner and advised that her child was going to end up dead. Shortly after, Wright was dropped off down the street from the residence in what was believed to be a rideshare service. Detectives say Wright began firing multiple rounds at two male victims in the front yard. The victims fled into the residence and Wright pursued them into the residence.

Detectives say Wright kicked in a bedroom door and fired several more rounds into the bathroom where the victims were hiding. Wright did not strike anyone and there were no injuries.

On March 15, 2024, Wright was located and arrested in Marion County by the US Marshall Service Task Force. He has been booked into the Marion County Jail.
