Detectives Arrest Richard O. Jacobson Technical High School Student for Threats to Commit a Mass Shooting (24-105)

PINELLAS COUNTY – On August 12, 2024, detectives assigned to the Threat Management Division arrested a Richard O. Jacobson Technical High School student for Written Threats to Kill or Conduct a Mass Shooting.

Detectives say 14-year-old Cole Thomas sent a Snapchat post stating, “Let a single one of these mfs look at me the wrong way im shooting up the school (tears running down face emoji).”

Detectives made contact with Thomas, who admitted to making the post but stated he did so jokingly because he was nervous about his new school. Thomas was arrested and charged with one count of Written Threats to Kill or Conduct a Mass Shooting.
