Indian Shores Man Arrested for Soliciting a Child for Unlawful Sexual Conduct (26-032)

INDIAN SHORES - On January 8, 2026, detectives with the Crimes Against Children Unit received information   of inappropriate conduct between a 15-year-old female and a 38-year-old male, later identified as Patrick Rainey Young. 

Detectives say the victim and Young initially met while he was working the scoreboard at his son’s non-school-related baseball game held at Seminole High School. Young made sexual comments about the victim’s body and provided her with alcohol and nicotine.

Detectives learned the victim and Young continued their relationship at additional baseball games and through Instagram messaging, discussing sexual favors and nude photos in exchange for money.

Through various investigative techniques, detectives confirmed that Young provided the victim with $300 after receiving a nude photo of her. On other occasions, the victim received food in exchange for nude photos.

Young was taken into custody and charged with one count Soliciting a Child for Unlawful Sexual Conduct Using a Computer or Device, one count Harmful Communication to a Minor, and two counts of Possession of Child Pornography.  He was transported to the Pinellas County Jail.

The investigation continues.

Per Florida Statute 119.071(2)(h)1, no further details will be released that would tend to identify the 15-year-old victim.
