Detectives Investigate Inmate Death; Does Not Appear Suspicious in Nature (26-026)

PINELLAS COUNTY – Detectives assigned to the Robbery & Homicide Unit are investigating the death of 64-year-old Mark LeDiet.

Detectives say LeDiet was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on February 28, 2026, by the Indian Shores Police Department for Domestic Battery.

On March 13, 2026, LeDiet was transported to a local hospital due to an on-going medical issue. While in the hospital, LeDiet suffered a medical emergency and was pronounced deceased by staff on March 16, 2026, at 9:23 A.M.

At this point in the investigation, detectives have found no evidence that LeDiet was involved in any physical altercations or sustained any injuries while incarcerated at the jail.

LeDiet’s next of kin has been notified.

The investigation continues.
