Bomb Threat Investigation Underway at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (25-074)

CLEARWATER - Detectives assigned to the Threat Management Division are assisting with a bomb threat investigation that occurred on an Allegiant flight.
On July 6, 2025, at approximately 2:03 p.m., deputies were alerted to a verbal bomb threat made by a passenger on Allegiant flight 1023, headed to Roanoke, Virginia. The plane returned to St. Pete-Clearwater Airport at approximately 2:08 p.m. Throughout the investigation, detectives learned that a passenger, 27-year-old Taj Taylor, told another passenger that his laptop was a bomb. The passenger immediately notified the flight attendants. Detectives say several other witnesses on the plane also heard Taylor state that he had a bomb.
Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office K9s searched Taylor’s belongings, and no bomb was found. For information regarding criminal charges and all further details, please refer to the FBI, as they have assumed the lead on the investigation.
