Volunteer Football Coach Arrested for Harmful Communication to a Minor (26-056)

CLEARWATER - Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested a Clearwater man for Harmful Communication to a Minor.

According to detectives, the investigation began after receiving information that a man identified as, 39-year-old Reginald Seay, was having an inappropriate relationship with a 14-year-old female.

Detectives learned that Seay was a volunteer football coach with the Tarpon Springs Jr. Spongers and met the victim at the football field when she was 13 years old.

Through various investigative techniques, detectives discovered Seay engaged the victim in a texting relationship over a three-month period, sending sexually explicit messages and showed the victim his penis over Facetime. Seay also directed the victim on multiple occasions to delete their text messages, stating their conversations could put him in jail.

On June 30, 2026, detectives arrested Seay at his residence and transported him to the Sheriff’s Administration Building located at 10750 Ulmerton Road, in Largo, where he was interviewed by detectives. Seay admitted to the allegations.

Seay was charged with one count of Harmful Communication to a Minor and transported to the Pinellas County Jail.

Per Florida Statute 119.071(2)(h)1, no further details will be released that would tend to identify the 14-year-old victim.
