Detectives Investigate Double Homicide in Unincorporated St. Petersburg (25-037)

ST. PETERSBURG – Detectives assigned to the Robbery & Homicide Unit are investigating a double homicide after two adult females were found deceased in their home.

On Saturday, April 12, 2025, at approximately 10:14 a.m., deputies assigned to the Patrol Operations Bureau responded to 5252 108th Street North in Unincorporated St. Petersburg after a 911 caller reported a homicide.  When deputies arrived on scene, they located the first victim, 34-year-old Christina Donzero, deceased in a bedroom suffering from multiple stab wounds.  The second victim, 75-year-old Betti “Suzanne” Thevenet Donzero, was found in the garage of the home, also suffering from several stab wounds. They were both pronounced deceased at the scene.

Deputies located the suspect, 41-year-old Kirk Hysell Jr., in the bathroom of the home. He suffered from multiple self-inflicted injuries and was transported to the hospital. Detectives say Hysell told his daughter that he had killed his girlfriend and his girlfriend’s mother, which prompted her to call 911.

According to detectives, Hysell admitted to the murders and initially planned to kill the whole family.  He also stated he planned to kill his other family members and if he got out, he would “do it again”. Hysell remains in the hospital and will be transported to the Pinellas County Jail when released.  He’s been charged with two counts of First-Degree Murder.

Next of kin has been notified.

The investigation continues.
