CLEARWATER – Detectives assigned to the Robbery & Homicide Unit are conducting a homicide investigation in unincorporated Clearwater.

On August 19, 2025, at approximately 1:12 a.m., deputies responded to 1538 Illinois Road in Clearwater after a 911 caller stated they heard a loud noise and a female state, “I have a gun.”  Deputies arrived on scene, where they met with 38-year-old Amanda Tenney.

Deputies observed blood on Amanda’s legs, as well as bloody footprints inside the home. Deputies located the victim, 60-year-old Patrick Denney, deceased on a bedroom floor with an apparent gunshot wound to the head.

Throughout the course of the investigation, detectives learned that Amanda was in a relationship with Patrick, and they were the only ones inside the home at the time of the shooting. Detectives also discovered that Amanda attempted to clean up the crime scene and did not call 911.

On August 19, 2025, Amanda was arrested for Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Shooting into a Dwelling. On September 16, 2025, detectives added the charge of Murder in the First-Degree. Amanda remains held at the Pinellas County Jail.
