MAIT Investigates Vehicle Versus Slingshot Crash in Oldsmar (26-001)

OLDSMAR – Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) are investigating a vehicle versus Slingshot crash in Oldsmar.

According to investigators, on January 2, 2026, at approximately 6:40 P.M., 56-year-old Rodolfo Ballester Sanchez was operating a 2021 Slingshot S three-wheeled motorcycle. Sanchez was stopped at the intersection of East Woodlands Parkway, preparing to turn east onto Tampa Road. At the same time, 49-year-old Kevin Patrick Farrell was driving northbound on East Lake Club Drive in a 2022 Chevrolet Corvette.

Investigators say Sanchez went around a stopped vehicle, entered the intersection of Tampa Road, and collided with Farrell’s vehicle, which had the right of way.

Sanchez was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Farrell was not injured in the crash and cooperated with deputies.

Impairment appears to be a factor in this case.

The investigation continues.
