Original Release:
PINELLAS COUNTY - Deputies, in conjunction with several partner agencies, will join this weekend to conduct a Driving Under the Influence (DUI) Wolf Pack operation in Pinellas County.
The participating agencies include:
Florida Highway Patrol, Largo Police Department, Pinellas Park Police Department, St. Petersburg Police Department, and the Clearwater Police Department.
They will maintain a proactive profile over the weekend on the highly traveled roadways of Pinellas County.
The operation will begin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2024, and will continue until 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024.
The operation is part of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s ongoing commitment to reduce deaths, injuries, and property damage associated with traffic crashes related to impaired driving. The goal of the Wolf Pack is to educate people and create public awareness about the dangers of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and any chemical or controlled substances.
Day after day, law enforcement officers actively seek out impaired drivers, and far too often, they become victims themselves. This DUI Wolf Pack is dedicated to all law enforcement officers who have been involved in a crash with an impaired driver. Because of impaired drivers, any innocent driver on our roadways could easily become the next victim.
Below are photos of crashes involving an impaired driver striking a patrol vehicle.
