24-032 Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Honors Fallen Police Canines

PINELLAS COUNTY – On Tuesday, February 27th at 4:00 p.m., the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit will be hosting the annual K-9 Memorial Service at Curlew Hills Memory Gardens Pet Cemetery, located at 1750 Curlew Road in Palm Harbor.

During the service, the K-9 Unit will be honoring retired canines that have passed away. There are over 60 dogs that are currently interred at the Memory Gardens. At this year’s memorial service, four Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office canines will be added to the memorial and remembered.

  • Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office canine “Bosco” survived by his handler, Corporal Matt Aitken
  • Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office canine “Badger” survived by his handler, Deputy Jeff Clement
  • Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office canine “Tonka” survived by his handler, former Pinellas County Deputy Nick Baez

The Pinellas Park Police Department and Tarpon Springs Police Department will also be participating and interring canines.  

The services will be attended by current and former K-9 handlers and their canine partners.

The service will be open to the public and media is invited to cover the service.
