PINELLAS COUNTY – On January 30, 2024, at approximately 7:54 p.m., deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded to 72nd Avenue North and Seminole Boulevard to investigate a vehicle vs motorcycle crash.

According to investigators, 37-year-old Timothy Sterbens was driving a Ducati motorcycle at a high rate of speed northbound on Seminole Boulevard, just south of Park Boulevard. A Mazda 3, driven by 56-year-old Laura Delzer, was exiting the shopping plaza on the east side of Seminole Boulevard and 72nd Avenue North. Investigators say as Delzer began to cross the northbound lanes of Seminole Boulevard from east to west, she was struck by Sterbens in the northbound lanes of Seminole Boulevard.

Sterbens was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Next of kin has been notified.

According to investigators, speed appears to be a factor in the crash.
