Deputies Conduct Death Investigation After Body Is Found in Lake St. George (24-007)

PALM HARBOR - Deputies are conducting a death investigation after a body was found in Lake St. George in Palm Harbor.

On January 19, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m., deputies responded to Lake St. George at the request of the Clearwater Police Department to assist in searching for a missing elderly man. Deputies say 85-year-old Clouster Bryant was reported missing to the Clearwater Police Department after he left to go fishing, but never returned home. Bryant frequents Lake St. George.

Deputies searched the north boat ramp of Lake St. George and located Bryant’s pick-up truck. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Marine Unit and Flight Unit responded to assist with the search. A small John Boat, which had capsized, was located on the south side of the lake. A body, positively identified as Bryant, was located next to the boat. Deputies say Bryant was wearing a life jacket and fishing equipment was also located with Bryant.

According to deputies, there were no obvious signs of recent damage to the vessel and there is no evidence that the death of Bryant is criminal in nature.

Next of kin was notified.

The investigation continues.
