PINELLAS COUNTY - The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has received a contract from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) for DUI Enforcement.

The contract will be utilized to fund DUI enforcement in Pinellas County, with an objective of decreasing impaired driving crashes and impaired driving fatalities countywide.

From December 13, 2023, through January 1, 2024, Pinellas deputies will be conducting high-visibility saturation patrols throughout Pinellas County. During the saturation patrols, deputies will be searching for impaired drivers and other traffic violations.

The locations of these saturation patrols will be in areas known for impaired driving activity and traffic violations, dependent upon activities occurring in the community.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office will continue DUI enforcement throughout the year and will also be participating in the NHSTA Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over Campaign. During the Christmas and New Year holiday periods, there is often a rise in drunk-driving deaths. Citizens will likely see more law enforcement on the roads as part of Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over. The campaign, which runs December 13th - January 1st, aims to educate people about the dangers and consequences of driving drunk.
