PINELLAS COUNTY- At approximately 9:50 p.m., deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team responded to Main Street and Carnation Drive in Dunedin to investigate a vehicle versus pedestrian crash.

According to investigators, 52-year-old Jodie Sechler was traveling eastbound in the inside median lane on Main Street near the Lake Haven Mobile Home Park. The pedestrian, 66-year-old Timothy Cunnings was crossing Main Street heading northbound, when he abruptly stopped in the continuous left turn lane lane and began walking southbound towards his original location. As Cunnings was walking back southbound, he was struck by the 2011 Kia Sedona.

Cunnings was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to investigators, speed and impairment do not appear to be factors in the crash.

Next of kin has been notified. 

The investigation continues.
