PINELLAS COUNTY – On Saturday, September 10, 2022, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Cadet Unit 900 competed in the 2022 Florida Sheriff’s Explorers Association (FSEA) Delegates Training and Competition.

Members of Cadet Unit 900 participated in team building activities while networking with explorers from other sheriff’s offices across the State of Florida.  They also participated in practical exercises and scenarios. The exercises included training in domestic violence, crisis intervention, traffic stops, active assailant, and Stop the Bleed (tourniquet work). While these scenarios were not scored, they gained valuable knowledge and hands-on training.

The Cadets participated in a firearm competition with the following results: Cadet Michael Lopez won 1st place in the Sharpshooter Division and Cadet Vlad Dainiak won 3rd place for New Shooter in Tyro Division. Cadets Dainiak, Lopez, Messano and Khaleel received a trophy for Overall Best Team in the 9mm Shooting Division.

We are very proud of the members of Cadet Post 900 for their hard work, dedication, and professionalism during this training and competition.

The cadet program is geared towards young adults between the ages of 14-20 that have an interest in learning about law enforcement as a career.  To learn more about how to join the cadet program, please visit our website at https://www.pcsoweb.com/cadets or contact Deputy Megan Johnson at 727-453-7461.
