Charges: Possession of Fentanyl, Possession of Methamphetamine, Felon in Possession of Ammunition and Possession of Cocaine
PINELLAS COUNTY – Detectives assigned to the Robbery/Homicide Unit are investigating the death of 40-year-old inmate Waymon Skinner.
Detectives say Skinner was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on April 28, 2022, after being arrested for Possession of Fentanyl, Possession of Methamphetamine, Felon in Possession of Ammunition and Possession of Cocaine.
Detectives learned on May 1, 2022, Skinner was transported to the hospital for medical reasons and admitted that same evening.
On May 3, 2022 at approximately 8:44 a.m., Skinner was pronounced deceased.
At this point in the investigation, detectives have found no evidence that Skinner was involved in any physical altercations or sustained any injuries while incarcerated at the jail.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will work to determine the cause and manner of death.
Skinner’s next of kin has been notified.
The investigation continues.
