PINELLAS COUNTY - On November 27, 2021, at approximately 6:42 p.m., deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded to Gulf Boulevard and 1st Street East in Treasure Island to investigate a vehicle versus pedestrian crash.

According to investigators, 48-year-old pedestrian Jude Rutkowski was crossing Gulf Boulevard from south to north in the middle of the intersection, not in the designated crosswalk. A 2007 Dodge Caliber, driven by 45-year-old Jamie McPherson, was traveling west bound on Gulf Boulevard when it struck Rutkowski with the front driver’s side of the vehicle.

Rutkowski was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

According to investigators, speed and impairment do not appear to be factors for McPherson, however it appears Rutkowski was impaired at the time of the crash.

The investigation continues.
