The investigation began on August 3, 2020 and the suspect was arrested at about 10:00 a.m. on August 6, 2020.

The suspect was arrested at the Sheriff’s Administrative Building, located at 10750 Ulmerton Road in Largo.
Why/How:
Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested 40-year-old David Prospere for two counts of Capital Sexual Battery on a Child Less Than 12-years-old.
Detectives began their investigation on August 3, 2020, after they learned a victim had been abused for approximately three years. During the investigation, detectives discovered a second victim had been abused for approximately four years.
According to detectives, Prospere was known by the victims and allowed to have contact with them alone. In each case, Prospere had the victims remove their clothing and sexually battered the victims. At the time the abuse started, the victims were under the age of 12.
Detectives interviewed Prospere, who made incriminating statements. Prospere was arrested at about 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at the Sheriff’s Administrative Building, located at 10750 Ulmerton Road in Largo. Prospere was transported to Pinellas County Jail without incident.
