Why/How:
Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested 45-year-old Steven Tromblee after he injured a child in unincorporated St. Petersburg.

Deputies were dispatched to a private residence in St. Petersburg where they learned a 7-year-old female sustained a head injury the day prior. The child had been treated at St. Petersburg General Hospital and was released. Later that evening, the child told a family member about the incident who became suspicious and notified law enforcement.

Through various investigative techniques, detectives learned Tromblee became upset with the victim for telling a lie. He pulled the victim’s hair and pushed her in the back with his foot. The force of the push caused the victim to fly forward and strike her head against an object in the room.

On Monday, May 11, 2020 detectives interviewed Tromblee at his residence. During the interview, Tromblee admitted to grabbing the victim’s hair and kicking her in the back, ultimately causing the injury.

Detectives arrested Tromblee and transported him to the Pinellas County Jail without incident.

He was charged with Aggravated Child Abuse.

Detectives say the victim is no longer hospitalized and her injuries were non-life threatening.

The investigation continues.
