What:
Deputies have arrested a man for attempted murder of a group home caretaker.

When:
The stabbing occurred on April 21, 2020 around 11:41 p.m.

Where:
The incident happened at 655 Pine Street in Safety Harbor.

Why/How:
Deputies responded to 655 Pine Street in Safety Harbor to a report of a stabbing.

When deputies arrived they discovered the victim, Lisa Beckford, suffering from multiple stab wounds to the upper left arm. She told deputies the suspect was a new resident of the group home where she works and lives.  

Deputies located the suspect, 38-year-old Erich Perry, a short distance away and took him into custody without incident.

Lisa told investigators she was lying on the couch when Erich crept up and began to stab her. She struggled with Erich and he immediately fled the location.

During an interview, Erich admitted to deputies he was trying to stab Lisa in the neck and kill her.

He was taken to the Pinellas County Jail and Lisa was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  

The investigation continues.
