What:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team are investigating a single golf cart crash in Dunedin.

When:
The crash occurred at about 3:47 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2019.

Where:
The crash occurred in the roadway at 1809 Douglas Avenue, just north of Mira Vista Drive in Dunedin.

Why/How:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team are investigating a single golf cart crash in Dunedin.

According to Investigators, 31-year-old Robert Paulton was driving his golf cart with 29-year-old passenger, Thomas Felkins. Paulton was driving eastbound on Mira Vista Drive and made a northbound turn onto Douglas Avenue.

After completing the turn, Paulton drove about 30 yards on Douglas Avenue before falling out of the golf cart as it was moving. Paulton landed in the roadway and sustained non-life threaten injuries to his face. Felkins immediately grabbed the steering wheel and stopped the golf cart after Paulton fell off.

Paulton was transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators say impairment was a factor in the crash.

The investigation continues.
