The crash occurred at 17120 Gulf Boulevard in North Redington Beach.
Why/How:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) are investigating a vehicle vs pedestrian crash in North Redington Beach.
According to investigators, 35-year-old Alex Lyons was driving his 2015 Dodge Dart southbound on Gulf Boulevard, approaching the Double Tree Resort located at 17120 Gulf Boulevard on Redington Beach.
Deputies say a 61-year-old male from Great Britain was crossing Gulf Boulevard from west to east, not in a crosswalk, in front of the Double Tree Resort, when he was struck by Lyons’ vehicle.
The pedestrian was transported to Bayfront Hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased.
Lyons refused medical treatment on scene.
Impairment and speed do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
Next of kin has not been notified.
The investigation continues.
