Why/How:
Detectives assigned to the Arson/Auto Theft Unit and Robbery/Homicide Unit are investigating a fire at a mobile home that resulted in one death. The fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
According to investigators, residents at 12501 Ulmerton Road, Largo were out walking at approximately 5:36 am this morning when they saw smoke and flames coming from the mobile home at lot #163. Multiple fire rescue units from Largo Fire Rescue, Pinellas Suncoast Fire Rescue and Seminole Fire Rescue responded to extinguish the fully engulfed mobile home.
Once the fire was extinguished, the fire department made entry and located a deceased subject inside of the living room portion of the mobile home. The resident of Lot #163 is known to be 66-year-old Joseph Pratico. The origin of the fire is unknown at this time.
Detectives say the mobile home was fully engulfed and is a total loss. There were three other mobile homes in the vicinity of the fire, also sustained minor to moderate heat damage.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
Next of kin has been notified.
