Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team are investigating a deputy involved crash in Dunedin.
When:
The crash occurred at about 11:21 p.m. on Sunday, September 4, 2016.
Where:
The crash occurred at the intersection of Main Street and Belcher Road in Dunedin.
Why/How:
According to investigators, Deputy Tyler Green was traveling eastbound on Main Street in his 2015 Marked Chevrolet Tahoe and failed to yield to a red traffic light at the Belcher Road intersection. Deputy Green collided with a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser that was operated by 31-year-old Karen Garland, and making a left turn with a green arrow.
Deputy Green was transported to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. No injuries were reported in the PT Cruiser.
Alcohol or drug impairment was not a factor in the investigation.
The investigation continues.
