Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit have arrested a St. Petersburg teenage boy for sexual battery on a 19-month-old child.
According to detectives, their investigation began on Saturday, December 5, 2015, after a witness reported seeing the teenager having inappropriate sexual contact with the young child.
Detectives say that the suspect was identified as 14-year-old Shawn Abentroth. Detectives interviewed Abentroth and he was arrested and charged with sexual battery on a child less than 12-years-old.
Abentroth was transported to the Pinellas Juvenile Assessment Center without further incident.
The investigation continues.
