Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) are investigating a vehicle crash in Seminole. The crash occurred at approximately 8:37 AM on Friday, March 13, 2015.
According to investigators, Howard Hatfield was driving his 2013 moped eastbound in the curb lane of Park Boulevard and was struck from behind by Janet Chittum, driving a 1995 Toyota Avalon, who was travelling in the same lane. After the impact Hatfield was thrown from the moped. Howard was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Hatfield was transported to a Bayfront Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Chittum was transported to Morton Plant hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
The investigation continues.
