The incident took place near the Walmart Neighborhood Market located at 2102 Main Street in Dunedin.
Why/How:
Deputies assigned to the Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Thursday, February, 12, 2015 at approximately 12:25 p.m.
According to deputies, the driver of a 2002 Honda Civic was traveling westbound on Main Street when he sideswiped a 2006 Ford F350. The Honda then swerved right, striking the curb and leaving the roadway, traveling on the grass and sidewalk. The Honda then struck the driver’s side of a 1997 Chevrolet Suburban before coming to a rest in the median lane of westbound Main Street.
The driver of the Honda Civic, identified as 81-year-old John W. Elliott was transported to a local hospital where he later died.
The driver of the Chevrolet Suburban and the driver of the Ford F350 were not injured in the crash.
The investigation continues.
