The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the, Treasure Island Police Department, have completed a long-term undercover narcotics investigation targeting drug sales occurring within the city limits of Treasure Island.

Why/How:
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office and the Treasure Island Police Department began Operation Sand Storm in July 2014 and concluded in December 2014. Throughout the operation, with the assistance of the Treasure Island Police Department, Pinellas County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Detectives were able to identify and conduct multiple narcotics transactions with 13 different suspects.
The narcotics purchased include crack cocaine, powder cocaine, heroin, marijuana, synthetic cannabinoids (spice) and hydromorphone (Dilaudid). On December 8, 2014 five of the thirteen offenders were arrested with eight remaining at large.
The investigation continues.
