Assistant Chief Deputy Paul Carey

Assistant Chief Deputy Paul Carey joined the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office in 2003 after six years with the Tarpon Springs Police Department. During his tenure with the sheriff’s office he has worked in patrol, field training, the Marine and Environmental Lands Unit, and the STAR Team. He was an administrative investigations sergeant and a child protection investigation sergeant, as well as a patrol lieutenant, Violent Crimes Task Force unit commander, Narcotics Division commander, Criminal Investigations Division commander, commander of the Department of Detention and Corrections Support and Health Services Bureau, and colonel of the Department of Detention and Corrections. He has a Bachelor of Science degree from St. Petersburg College and is a graduate of the Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute, Senior Leadership Program, and the FBI-LEEDA Executive Leadership Institute.
