Deputies Investigate Fatal Jet Ski Crash Near the Dunedin Causeway (24-044)
PINELLAS COUNTY – On March 16, 2024, at approximately 10:55 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a single jet ski accident near the Dunedin Causeway.
According to deputies, 60-year-old Gary Nolan was traveling on his 2017 Sea-Doo Personal Watercraft northbound along the east side of Caladesi Island, towards the Dunedin Causeway. Nolan was approaching Hurricane Pass Channel when the watercraft ran aground on a sandbar. Deputies say Nolan was ejected over the handlebars, knocking him unconscious and causing facial trauma.
Nolan was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
According to deputies, alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
Next of kin has been notified.
