The victim is a 6-month-old female. Per Florida Statute 119.071(2)(h)1, no further information will be released that would tend to identify the victim.
PINELLAS COUNTY – Detectives assigned to the Crimes Against Children Unit arrested 24-year-old, Jourdian A. Jones after he seriously injured an infant. The infant was three months old at the time of the incident.
On January 5, 2021, deputies and Child Protection Investigators responded to a private residence in Oldsmar for allegations of child abuse. The initial investigation revealed that the victim sustained unexplained injuries to her head a couple days prior.
Through various investigative techniques, detectives learned that Jones became frustrated with the infant and struck her, causing a severe bruise on the left side of the child’s face. The injuries sustained were consistent with abusive trauma.
On Wednesday, April 7, 2021, detectives interviewed Jones and he admitted to the allegations.
Jones was charged with Child Abuse and transported to the Pinellas County Jail without incident.
The investigation continues.
