Major Dennis Garvey

Major Dennis Garvey joined the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office in 2001 and oversees the Investigative Operations Bureau. During his tenure here he has served in Field Training, Crimes Against Children, Robbery and Homicide, Administrative Investigations, and the Office of the Chief Deputy. He was Crimes Against Persons lieutenant, and North District Station captain. He also spent four years on the Negotiator Response Team. He has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration and a master’s in public administration/criminal justice from Columbia Southern University. He is a graduate of the Police Executive Research Forum and the Senior Management Institute for Police.
