Staying active during the Holidays

It can be a challenge to continue an exercise routine, especially during the holidays! Here are some ideas to help you fit that workout in. Staying active can help with the stress of the season and give you some energy to get through it.
Plan your workout ahead, especially if you are traveling: -Are their trails, parks nearby -Plan a simple workout that doesn't take a lot of space
Prepare -Bring a workout plan with you if you do have to travel -Bring resistance bands -Look at workouts online (download Burnalong!)
Use every opportunity to be active -Walk as much as possible -Offer to help with housework -Play with your kids/dogs outside

COVID during the Holidays-How to get through it

We all know the season definitely looks different than it did last year. Events are cancelled. Gatherings are minimal. These are some ways to cope during the holidays and still enjoy it.
-Identify how you're feeling-Take time to sort through your emotions (journaling, talking with a friend, quite time alone). Learn to cope with these feelings -Acknowledge what you have lost-if you are missing a loved one, think of ways you can honor them during this time -Make the most of it-Look at virtual ways to see family. -Don't romanticize your typical holiday plans-Don't dwell on what you did last year or the year before. Even though you aren't doing a lot of the same things this holiday, think of some of the stresses that came along with them from the previous year. you don't have that to deal with anymore. And it's a great excuse to miss holiday events-just saying.. -Practice gratitude-Make a conscious effort to regularly identify somethings that you are grateful for.

Criticism

Criticism isn't always bad. It allows you to reflect on things that you may need to work, things that you might not recognize. Then there are those types of criticism from people that isn't really constructive, but can be damaging to your self-confidence. Here are some quotes for when you are faced with those. Acknowledge the critique, then keep it moving..
