Coping with Stress during COVID-19--Appointments Available

Lori Pereira
These are stressful, anxiety-filled times that may be impacting your own mental health, wellness, and peace of mind.

Have you experienced stress because of your new role as a homeschooling parent?
Are you feeling isolated or lonely because your active lifestyle has significantly changed?
Are you fearful of the impact of the virus itself?

Why not take advantage of a FREE 50-minute telehealth session with a Licensed Mental Health Counselor from the safety and convenience of your cell phone or laptop with camera and microphone (using video chat service, Zoom)?

As the Sheriff has said, “It is okay not to be okay.” Call today to schedule a confidential appointment.

The Early Learning Coalition (ELC) has extended a second enrollment period for childcare referrals for first responders and healthcare workers. First Responder is defined as any member of Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. See the ELC Childcare Assistance Flyer for more details.

Instructions to Complete & Submit Form:

  • Per ELC, new applications for enrollment must be submitted by 7/31/2020. Per ELC, NO NEW REFERRALS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS DATE.
  • Complete the Childcare Application and Authorization Form (link below). Refer to the example form for guidance on how to complete the designated sections.
  • Forward completed form to Human_Resources@PCSONET.COM and in the body of the email, list the number of hours for your commute.
  • Employment HR Specialist will process your form and will fax to ELC.
  • The ELC in your county that you reside in will be the ELC that processes your application.
  • ELC will contact you with any questions and next steps.

  • Please note: ALL re-enrollments require a new application to be completed as ELC will not allow any "white-out" or alterations to the previous application. HR appreciates your understanding and cooperation in this matter. Once we receive your re-enrollment, we will sign and forward to ELC for processing.

Lori Pereira
George T. Coker, retired US Navy Commander, was awarded the Navy Cross for extraordinary heroism as POW during the Vietnam War. In this article, Coker shares practical steps to implement in order to reduce the counterproductive actions and behaviors that result from isolation and loneliness.

As the author recalls from his time as a POW, "Unity over self," let's remember this, too. We need to keep encouraging each other during these difficult times--and not just what we are facing with COVID-19.
