The Judicial Operations Bureau at the Clearwater Civil Courthouse, Squad 7, mourns the loss of Retired Deputy Jerome “Jerry” Stopper Jr. After a courageous battle against bone cancer, he passed away late Wednesday, September 3, 2025. Jerry began his law enforcement career with the Buffalo Grove Police Department in Illinois. After relocating to Florida, he served as the PCSO Range Master, then as a full-time Bailiff at the Judicial Operations Bureau, retiring in March 2025. His family shared how much Jerry valued his work family and how much everyone he worked with meant to him. They also express their gratitude to everyone for their prayers and support. A celebration of life is pending; an update will be provided once details become available.
