Senate Bill 914 – New Driver License and Identification Card Number - Pilot Starting this WeekEffective 07/12/2024
In 2022, legislation was passed that amended Florida Statute 322.14(1)(a), requiring that the distinguishing numbers assigned to a driver license (DL) and identification (ID) card contain a minimum of four randomly generated digits.
The format of the DL/ID will remain the same (i.e., S514-018-94-759-0), however, it will no longer use a formula to determine the numbers assigned to each customer.
A customer’s record can be retrieved when a search is conducted using the old or new number; however, the new number is the number that will be displayed.
